August 4, 2015-Saltwater Lodge Kenai Fjords Tour, sightseeing/murals in town, dinner at Chinooks

SEWARD

Breakfast is coffee in the room as we have to meet for another Kenai Fjords cruise.  I have pre booked the whale watching, wildlife and glacier tour with Saltwater.  Cost for 2 adults $432.86.  We are to meet up at the Bakery at the harbor on Fourth Avenue at 7:45 am.  There are more people here than I expected but we will be split into 2 groups.  My husband and I will be on the Steller Explorer with Captain Jim and Nick.  There are 12 of us on this boat.  We are given breakfast which is a surprise.  I know we get lunch but this is nice as we didn't have anything to eat before arriving.  There are blueberry muffin pieces along with coffee, tea, or water.  The seas are calm and it's another nice day.  We see lots of wildlife-otters, horned and tufted puffins, orcas, seals, sea lions, a coral sea star.  Some very interesting rock formations.  Glacier ice was scooped up and brought on board for us to hold if we wanted.  I did and it was cold!  We visited Aialik Glacier and several others.  We got to see some small calvings at Aialik.  We also had a snack of carrots, crackers, cheese, sausage, and dip.  Lunch was while we sat in front of Aialik Glacier.  Deli style-turkey sandwich with lettuce, tomato, and cranberry spread; a small bag of Lay's potato chips; non alcoholic drink/soda; a delicious brownie and a rice krispie treat.  A lot of food.  Tip was left in a tip jar by the counter where the coffee and tea was located.  This tour lasted 8-9 hours.

Dinner at CHINOOKS.  Another place within walking distance for our hotel.  We were lucky with another table with a view of the harbor and of men dealing with the evening's fishing catch.  We have eaten so much while on our boat tour that we decide to split an entree.  Richard gets a bowl of the soup of the day while I order a cup.  He has a large house salad, I have a small house salad.  Entree to split-fried chicken that was great.  The amount of fried chicken was more than enough for the 2 of us.  All in all another fine dinner in Seward on this our last night.  Bill was $53 which included the tip.
